Fireworks & July 4th

We took Kaylee to see fireworks for the first time this year. She loved it! July 4 was Sunday, and fireworks near us were Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. We went Friday night with a bunch of neighbors. The kids all had fun throwing pop & snaps (see 1st pic of Kaylee solo; she was having fun, but looks really tired in this photo - it was already past her bedtime at that point), waving sparklers and wearing glow bracelets...and staying up late. :) While watching the fireworks, Kaylee went back and forth between sitting with Jamie and sitting on the blanket on the ground. She kept popping up, throwing her hands in the air and exclaiming, "that was a BIG one!" when some of the bigger fireworks exploded.

On the 4th, we went to my parents' house. About 25-30 people were there over the course of the day. Kaylee wanted to get in the pool first thing, of course! We managed to take a few photos with her in her 7/4 outfit first. Here she is with Baba (Jamie's mom), Grampa (my dad), and me and my youngest brother Jeff - all in our red holiday shirts.

Kaylee enjoyed trying to help her cousin Lillian open some gifts. She also had a great time in the pool both before and after lunch (hence the suit change). She really liked riding on the crocodile this time. Last photo is Grampa with his two granddaughters.

Knock, Knock!

Kaylee's learned her first knock, knock joke:

Knock, knock!
Who's there?
BOO!
Boo who?
Don't cry, it's just me!

I helped her with it twice and now she's got it!

Tooth #18

I just noticed that Kaylee's lower left 2nd year molar has broken through, so she's up to 18 teeth now (or partial teeth...the other lower back molar's still not completely in and it's been nearly 2 months since I first noticed it!). Just an update, as this is how I more easily keep track so I can fill in her baby book later. :)

2, 2, 2 & 2

Kaylee's age ticker says she's 2 years, 2 months, 2 weeks and 2 days old today (2-day? hah). If it counted time, she'd be 2 years, 2 months, 2 weeks, 2 days, 2 hours, 2 minutes and 2 seconds old at 1:02:02 pm today (well, not sure about to the second, but she was born at 11am).

Memorial Day at "Grampa's Pool" (apologies to Gramma)

Ever since we stopped by my parents' house a couple months ago and Kaylee saw they had the winter pool cover off and the bubble cover (to warm the water) on, she's been wanting to go swim at "Grampa's Pool" (apparently Gramma has no claim to it??) - as in asking at least 3-4 times a week when we're going to Grampa's Pool. We went today for a Memorial Day cookout/swim, and there was a 90% chance of rain/thunderstorms all day, but a huge downpour had ended just before we arrived this morning around 11, and it was hot and sunny for us the rest of the day! Kaylee probably got in about 4 hours of pool time (with a super 2.5+ hour nap in between) and we all had a great time.

Here's Kaylee in her patriotic outfit (check back July 4 for a repeat of the outfit!) with Daddy, Mommy (w/matching bows), Grampa & Gramma. She started out the day with a flag band-aid as well, but it fell off just before photos (the band-aid lasted about 24 hours, so it had a good life).

Pool time! She started off the day in her swim ring, but then we found out G&G had bought some arm floaties, and Kaylee did super amazing with them! She was able to move about more on her own than with the big ring and really loved swimming all over the pool with them. I think it was easier for her to get in and out of the pool without the big ring around her, as well. Yay, floaties!

The other day after I took some photos, Kaylee told me, "no pictures today! You already take pictures!" and she refused to pose for any more. She did the same again today at the pool! I was trying to get her to pose for the last one I posted here and she wouldn't stop playing to smile, then without looking up she yelled at me, "no pictures today!" She finally did pose for the one when I bribed her with some balloons - luckily I got the picture with one take, as she was not willing to stick around for any more tries!
