Bad spill

Andy was walking in the kitchen to throw something away for me & didn't notice a ball in his way. He fell on his face (he had something in each hand & didn't catch himself). A tooth cut the inside bottom lip and it was bleeding a little & immediately bruised & swollen. :-( He was pretty upset, as you could imagine! But when I took this picture, he actually thought it was funny I was holding his lip down & he smiled & laughed a little. His lip looks a lot worse in person (fuzzy phone camera pic here), but you can tell it doesn't look good!  Of course he'll probably be fine within a day or so and have forgotten all about it.

Kaylee's First Concert

For Kaylee's birthday, we gave her tickets to the Fresh Beat Band concert, which was tonight. After sitting mesmerized and barely singing along for the first couple songs, she got into it and started dancing, jumping, singing and clapping. We had good seats; we thought we were going to be in the balcony, but were actually the first row of a section on the floor (see photo of the stage from our seats).

Kaylee's birthday party

Kaylee and her guests had fun at her 4th birthday party! We had the party at Splatters, a pottery/ceramics painting studio. Everyone got to pick a little ceramic figure to paint and keep - Kaylee painted a snail for herself and a monkey for Andy - then the figures were all fired at Splatters and picked up a week after the party. Splatters also gives the birthday person a special plate with all their guests' names on it.

Kaylee wanted a Fresh Beat Band party. Since we had it at Splatters, all we brought were the cake/cupcakes, drinks and party favors, so there wasn't really much of a theme, but I did make a guitar cake to look like Kiki's guitar and party favors were Fresh Beat Band coloring/activity/sticker books and star shaped sunglasses (FBB has a song called "Rockstar" where they wear jackets with stars on them, so the glasses sort of went along with that). Here are photos from the party!

The following day, Baba took her out to lunch then to Toys R Us to pick out a present. She got a puppy salon (stuffed animal with barrettes and styling things to do its hair, nails and eyes) and a Disney Princess alarm clock. Then the next weekend, Poppy and Nana came over and she got more presents. Bendaroos (wax covered wire you can bend and shape into infinite creations) and animal pattern blocks (think Tangrams). Aunt Sharon is coming to visit this weekend, so I'm sure she'll get even more gifts from her...not that she's complaining! All in all, Kaylee had a fun fourth birthday and is off to a great fifth year so far!

2 weeks post-op

Andy's surgeon told us that the bandage covering the incision/stitches would fall off on its own and that we should just leave it alone until it did so. For some reason, I was expecting it to stay on for 2-3 days before coming off. The tape started peeling up around the edges last night and just late today started coming off most of the way around, so I finally took it off...2 weeks after the surgery! Here's a photo I got of the stitches/scar - taken with a phone camera, so not the best picture, but it's what I had close. The scar is maybe 1 1/2 inches long and actually looks pretty good, as you can see. The stitches should dissolve on their own; you can see a bit of it sticking out on the right end. We take Andy back in for a follow up in a couple weeks, and the doctor said if the stitches haven't come out by then, he might slide them out as it should be healed.
