15 days left!

I had another checkup this morning, with 2 more scheduled before the big day. Everything still looks good. Andy's heart rate was 148 beats/min, last week's group B strep test came back negative (that's good; no antibiotic/IV needed for that at delivery) and I'm already 1cm dilated, though I think I was 1cm dilated with Kaylee for about a month before she was born, so I don't think that means much! I'm definitely feeling more Braxton Hicks contractions this pregnancy than last time, and have been for a few months, but still think this kid will hold out until we're scheduled. Just 15 days now!

New haircut the next morning

Here are photos of Kaylee's haircut this morning. She's still excited about having it cut and I think it looks so much better already!! Even Jamie said, "it makes a bigger difference than I'd have thought." It was just so uneven, with longer pieces that wouldn't curl the same in the back and hung down/stuck out crazy. I'm glad she likes it, too! She keeps saying she's going to tell everyone about her new haircut!

First haircut...finally!

Jamie finally agreed to let me trim Kaylee's scraggly curls in the back. Not that they weren't cute, but very uneven and crazy looking. :) So after her bath this evening, I trimmed somewhere between 2-3" off. We'll see how it looks tomorrow! She was excited to get it cut; I told her I'd cut it last night and then ran out of time. As I was leaving her room at bedtime, she said, "Mommy, wait! You didn't cut my hair! You have to cut my hair!" :) I told her we'd do it tonight, and she reminded me about it a few times today. So there was no getting around it!

O
f course while she was really good and tried to stand still, she kept trying to look and was squirmy, so it took a few tries to trim it straight. Or at least mostly straight! With it being so curly, though, I wasn't too concerned about a precise straight cut. Here are some photos of the cutting...

Before...During...

And After! The last photo was after we towel dried it a little bit and it curled up. Within a few minutes it was even curlier and fluffier again. I'll try to remember to take and post a photo tomorrow of it all dry and hopefully less crazy than before!

37 weeks

Someone asked yesterday if I thought I was carrying lower this time or if maybe Andy had already dropped. I haven't really paid attention to how I've been carrying him, but I had taken a photo yesterday and I looked at the photo I'd taken at 37 weeks when I was pregnant with Kaylee. Looks like 1-this is apparently my 37 week pregnancy photo sweater (I didn't realize it until I checked the old photo later, after I'd already taken the new one!) and 2-not sure if I've been carrying lower the whole time or if he's dropped (though breathing has gotten easier and I've had to pee more lately, so that could be), but my belly does seem to be lower this time.

2 weeks and 2 days until Kaylee's a big sister!

Bedroom

I wasn't necessarily expecting to get this done tonight, but Jamie occupied Kaylee for an hour or so when he got home and I was able to hang the name, photo board and a photo frame on the wall during that time; so I think Andy's room is about ready! Here are some photos...

The swing and bassinet are in a temporary spot until we need them in a few weeks.

I painted the letters in his name to coordinate with the bedding, and a friend gave us the picture frame she made special to go with his room.

His armoire is holding quite a few diapers, wipes and other baby items for us at the moment.

36 weeks

Me & Andy this morning at 36 weeks pregnant:

His room is nearly done! We got a mattress for his crib today and I hope to hang a few more things on the wall this week (like his name above the crib, and a board for photos). The plan is for him to sleep in our room in a bassinet for a little while, so it'll probably be at least 2-3 months before he's actually in his own room. I figure it's easier to get things done now than after he's here. Maybe?

I also finally did a load of baby boy laundry - no pink in sight, which is very odd to me. And I had forgotten how tiny newborn clothes are!! You don't really realize, or at least I didn't, until you pull them out of the dryer to fold...they're so small they don't even really seem fold-able!

Showers!

The past two weekends we had a couple showers for Andy. Last weekend I went to a local tea cafe with a bunch of neighbors and had a delicious lunch and Andy got lots of great gifts. Only took one photo there...me and the yummy red velvet cake!

Yesterday some friends threw a Dr. Seuss themed shower; so cute and creative! Once again, we were blessed with so many wonderful things for Andy; he's a very lucky little guy with so many people who love him already!

Welcome to the shower:

Kaylee/Thing 1 and Andy/Thing 2! :-)
Hostess Kim with me and the front door.

Look at all the yummy food! Kaylee's favorites were the cookies and cupcakes, of course. It was all very creative and delicious!

Kaylee really enjoyed being included in the shower, especially when she got to open a couple "big sister" gifts!

All our wonderful friends and family who could attend: Sharon, Grandma Barb, Brooke, Lynnie, Nana Sally, Jenn, Pam, Lisa, Kim, Renee, Gramma Mary Jane, Great-Grandmother Naomi (aka Memaw), Maggie, baby Emily, me & Andy, Jenny and Meriam.

And me with the hostesses: Jenny, Pam, Kim, Renee and Meriam; huge thanks to all, especially Kim, who I think started planning this as soon as she found out I was pregnant. You can tell - no detail was overlooked!

Just a big

Kaylee told me, "when Andy comes, I'll be a big sister. Right now I'm just a big." Gotta love kid logic.

Jan 2011 Snow!

We measured 5" of snow on our driveway this morning, and I think it was even a bit deeper than that in other places (some neighbors measured it at 6"). Kaylee didn't have school today anyway, but yesterday our county canceled school for today and I just saw an update that it's closed again tomorrow (Kaylee would have had school tomorrow). We went out in the snow with her for about an hour and a half this morning; when she finally had enough, she came in for a warm bath and hot cocoa. She had a great time playing out in the snow, though! She made about 20 snow angels, had fun falling down in the deep snow and sledding down a hill in a pool inner tube.

I made snow ice cream this morning and that's what we had for breakfast! (Along with some granola bars.) Kaylee loved that!

When we first walked outside, Kaylee's pants were gray. That lasted all of about 2 minutes, until she discovered how much she enjoyed falling down into the deep snow!

34 weeks

Me and Andy at 34 weeks. His birth day is scheduled for 5 weeks from tomorrow!

3D ultrasound

We got to do another free 3D ultrasound session today, and this time Jamie was able to come. We did get a CD of the images; here are a few of the little guy at nearly 34 weeks along...not long until we can compare these to him in person!
