Sick little kiddos

Our poor babies are both under the weather this week! Kaylee missed a day of school on Wednesday due to being up a couple hours overnight Tues night with a nasty cough and runny nose, which persisted through most of Wed. She was much better that night and Thursday morning, so she went to school Thursday and Friday. Today her cough and runny nose seemed a bit worse again, but not horrible. Andy, on the other hand, seemed to come down with it hard today! Some coughing, but a bad runny nose and a fever that started late morning - the highest it registered was about 101.4. Tylenol helped bring that down, but after his afternoon nap, he was so hoarse. It was pretty pitiful, but also somewhat amusing, to hear him try to talk, cry or laugh - all that would come out were little squeaks! They spent about 10 minutes in a steamed up bathroom before bed tonight. It did seem to help clear out some of the gunk, so hopefully that will help them sleep well tonight and they'll be feeling better again in the morning. Luckily our church broadcasts sermons online (http://northpointonline.tv/- Sun at 9am, 11am, 2pm, 6pm, 10pm or Wed at 8pm), so we can watch from the comfort of our home without having to take the sick babes out and about! Kaylee even cuddles and watches most of it with us when she can't go to Waumba Land.

Baby Biter

Andy seems to enjoy biting. :-\ Tonight in the bath he bit Kaylee's arm and left little marks. I patted him on the mouth and said, "no biting." He proceeded to try to bite her arm a couple more times and her leg once or twice, each time with the same reprimand. He stuck out his little pouty lip a few times, but continued to try. He then tried to bite her toes, which were submerged, and he came up sputtering...didn't try biting after that. :-)

Photos from last week

Andy is very into pointing right now! And using his walker (or a cardboard box, or whatever he can use as a walker) to get from point A to point B without crawling. Kaylee was showing off her "ladybug pet" -- Buggy (it's on the tip of one of her fingers). She told me this was the same on that she found before Christmas that had died..."Buggy survived!" I told her it wasn't the same bug, but she told me that it definitely was. Well, Buggy died a second time, in case you were wondering - I'll keep you posted on any future reincarnations.

Santa brought Kaylee and Andy matching Cat in the Hat shirts - Kaylee loves it when they dress alike! Andy doesn't really care about the outfit, he still just likes to point.

We gave Andy this book for Christmas and I think it's his current favorite. He thinks it's so funny when I read it to him, as well as when he picks it up and roars through the hole.

11 Months!

Our baby is 11 months old today - where did the time go?  Kaylee is having fun helping plan his birthday party - she's very excited about the cake and said she will eat all of the leftovers (she did offer to eat the entire thing, but I told her we had to let our guests have some, as well).  Happy 11 months, Bud!!!

Zoo

On 11/21, Jamie took the day off work and we all went to the zoo. Of all the days to go in Nov, we picked the most perfect! The weather was sunny and close to 80 degrees. The other day we were considering going was the following Monday, which turned out to be cool and rainy all day, so we were extra glad we went the week before.

Kaylee loved it! I'm not sure if it was her favorite part, but she really enjoyed the reptile house! Maybe because we spent extra time in there while Andy had his bottle, but she ran around with Jamie and then me as we traded off Andy, and she looked at and showed us all the "HUGE SNAKES!"

***Warning: some snake photos at the end***

Kaylee enjoyed the train...Andy enjoyed his nap on the train.

Kaylee thought these frogs were pretty funny. The first one obviously because it was just stuck to the glass, and the second one because it had its back to the glass with a grumpy look on his face. She said he was tired of looking at everybody.

***Kimodo Dragons then snakes***
The Kimodo Dragon on the left was maybe 3 feet long, including his tail. I forget what the huge Kimodo Dragon was called, but it was super huge - maybe 10-12 feet long (hard to tell from the photo).

***Final warning: SNAKES***

This first snake (1st 2 photos) reminded me of the old snake game where you just try not to double up on yourself - it was a very long snake and was weaving in and around all the little trees in the cage.

Bye, bye bottles...already?

Andy has 4 bottles/day. Since Kaylee was not keen on having her formula/milk in a bottle and I ended up going cold turkey switching her from bottles to sippy cups at about 11.5 months old and as a result she didn't drink much (any?) milk for about 3 days, I thought maybe I'd try to start getting Andy used to drinking formula from a sippy cup now and ease him into it - if he pushed it away, we'd just go back to bottles, but I'd at least offer it once/day for a while and go from there. He decided to just take right to it and has now had 6 sippy cups of milk in a row - his last bottle was the lunchtime one yesterday. Go, Andy! Of course the only sippy cup that works well for him right now is the freebie one (Pampers brand) we got at his 9 month pediatrician visit...so I've had to wash it in between each use. The others we have seem to let too much into his mouth at a time and he either can't swallow it right and coughs on it, or pulls the cup away and some pours down his chin. I went out and bought another brand tonight (they didn't have the Pampers one where I went), so hopefully those will work for him. If not, we might be heading out to see if we can find a few more Pampers ones tomorrow!

8 teeth!

As of late this morning (at least by the time I noticed), Andy's 8th tooth popped through - so now he's got big toothy grins for everyone, with all 8 front middle teeth in! Well, big grins for everyone as long as the separation anxiety doesn't kick in...
