Our little fishie

Kaylee and I went to the pool again this morning. The weather and pool temp were perfect, but no one else showed up during the hour and a half we were there! I'm hoping any potential rain holds off until tonight so we can go again after naptime today. We're borrowing a little toddler inner tube from a neighbor and it is great!! The fabric covering the tube has a tank top attached, so the ring stays on even when she's not in the pool. She LOVES being able to swim on her own; she's always wanting down when we hold her in the pool, and I think the inner tube is the only reason Jamie goes to the pool with us anymore - he was getting so tired of always having to chase her around on the concrete.

  1. That's so cute! Elena will not kick at her swimming lessons. Brian has tried to get her to kick while she's in the jacuzzi after her swimming lesson, and she won't kick there either. Maybe I need to try to find one of those vests and she'll feel safer in the water? Tonight's the last lesson. I'm not going to sign her up again until August. Hopefully it will be much warmer then and I won't have to worry about her being cold.

Funny, I wanted to use "fishie" when I was writing the last post about Elena, but it wasn't in the dictionary. "Fishie" seems right when you're describing your child, not "fishy"!

  2. LOL at "fishy" :) I just typed it, didn't think about the spelling!

Kaylee loves the water anyway, but was quite a handful as she didn't want to sit in any of her floats in the pool - just wants to be on her own. Luckily our neighbor had this little ring we could borrow for a while, and it is AWESOME!! It's Swim Ways brand, in case you want to look into one.

Does Elena kick in the bathtub? Kaylee loves to splash the water around in there, too. She's always loved her baths (well, not her very first few :) ), so we figured she'd love the pool.

Temperature-wise, our pool has gotten super warm just over the last week. The first time we went in it was pretty chilly, and the last few times it was nice enough, but today it was warm - and it was nice that it wasn't too breezy out, so we weren't cold getting in and out of the pool.

Good luck with your fishie! (non-fishie?? ;) )

  3. She doesn't really kick in the tub, although last night she was holding onto the soap dish and jumping up and down! I think it really is a temperature issue. Brian said that last night she kicked when he had her on a little board in the sunny part of the pool. The Y's pool is heated, but it's outside, and the outside temp hasn't been very warm here - no higher than 75. We may try another pool in the area that's heated and inside, so we don't have to worry about the cold air when she gets out of the pool. There's still hope for my tropical fishie!
