2nd Tooth

As of Sunday, Andy officially has two teeth! His bottom middle right tooth finally broke through the gums sometime Sunday. It looked so close for at least a week, I was sure it was going to have come through before then. But it's here. He actually had a small bit of blood from it today; I was sitting with him and noticed a little blood running out of his mouth (blood mixed with drool, so probably not much actual blood at all) onto his chin. I wiped it away and that was the end of it. He wouldn't let me look, of course, but I dabbed on his gums with a bib a couple more times and there wasn't any more, so I guess there was just a little that needed to escape. He hasn't complained about the teeth at all that we can really tell...knock on wood! And, as Kaylee says, "good job growing those teeth, Bud!" :)

Fun on the Swings

Now that it's finally cooling off, I took Andy to a playground for the first time a couple weeks ago and he loved the swings! Kaylee enjoyed pushing him and -of course because he was in the baby swings- swinging in the baby swings, too.

Happy 7 months!

My little guy is 7 months today!  His other bottom middle tooth seems to be coming in, so he shouldn't be snaggletooth much longer.  For a while now he's been shaking his head crazily, but lately (within the past 2 weeks or so now) he seems to associate that with saying, "no."  It's pretty funny.  He does it a lot when he's eating, but full - i.e. when I offer another spoonful he emphatically shakes his head side to side.  He also does it some when he's saying, "dadada dada dadadada," and I ask if he can say, "mama;" he gets a big grin and shakes his head, the little booger.  For a couple weeks he's also been working on waving, but it was always with a straight arm sort of hanging by his side that he'd just lift and lower a few times.  Today I think I got a couple actual waves, though!  He had his arm bent and waved his hand from side to side.  Then I copied him and asked if he could wave again and he did.  Of course, then Kaylee and her friend Erin both ran over to watch him wave and he was fixated on them instead of performing anymore.  :)

He's still not showing any signs of being interested in crawling; he won't get up on his hands and knees at all, though he is rolling onto his stomach more and more and spending more time playing that way now, as opposed to rolling right back over onto his back.  He really just prefers sitting up, though.  He likes seeing what's going on all around him and playing with toys while he sits.

He laughs at the silliest things.  Still loves peekaboo, loves (or at least laughs hysterically at) getting tickled (back of the neck is a very tickly spot for him, FYI), seems to like books, though possibly just trying to eat them more than the stories at this point.  He's very cuddly and loves being held and playing with someone, but also plays well alone.  He especially LOVES when Kaylee plays with him, reads to him, bounces with him (Andy in the hanging jumper and Kaylee on her bouncy ball) or otherwise just pays attention to him.  She can walk past him and just casually look over, say some random silly thing and keep walking and Andy will burst out in laughter.  Then she'll do it 20 more times to get him to laugh more until one of them finally tires of it.

I can't think of anything else right now.  I know I'm behind on posting photos, too.  I have them, just haven't done anything with them recently!

6 month stats!

I just realized I never posted about Andy's 6 month check up; it was last Friday (8/26). He was 19 lbs and 27.75". He had an eye test this time (both eyes passed) and he had 3 electrode things stuck to his head, which he did NOT like. He was still pretty good for the test, but got restless near the end and then screamed when she took them off. So that did not put him in a good mood for his shots!! Not that he would have liked them anyway, but when the nurse came in, he was still upset and even cried as she gave him just the oral vaccine. Before she even stuck him, he was screaming. Luckily he calmed down pretty quickly after she left and I picked him up, but he was still red-eyed and crying for a bit. I usually talk to the receptionist afterward to make the following appointment, but didn't this time because he just wanted to get out of there. He did calm down a lot more once he got back in the car, then he fell asleep and slept for nearly an hour on the way to and at Kaylee's preschool Open House.

Funny big sister moment - when the nurse came in with the vaccines, she set them on the counter/bench right next to where Kaylee was sitting and Kaylee asked what they were. The nurse said they were shots for Andy, and asked Kaylee if she wanted any - she said maybe Andy could share with her. Kaylee promptly hopped down off the bench and got as far away from her as she could. Then I held Andy's arms as the nurse gave him his shots. As soon as she was done and was putting band-aids on his legs, she said, "I think we lost someone." Kaylee had gone out into the hallway and was standing in the hall with a look on her face like, "what did you do to my brother? You better not do that to me!" I told her the nurse was all done and she could come back in. She did, but she stood behind me, clinging onto my legs - apparently hiding - until the nurse left the room. I guess she really was afraid she might get a shot, too!

Great first day!

Kaylee had a great first day of her new preschool year today! When she got home, I asked her what she did and she said, "you have to look in my folder to see if you find a project!" That made me chuckle. She had made a fish out of her handprint. She said she got to play on the playground and she saw Cameron - the boy in her class last year she had a preschool crush on (every day we'd hear, "Cameron is so funny, he makes me laugh!"). He's not in her class this year, but I think they have playground time together sometimes, so we'll probably still hear about him from time to time.

First day of 3 year preschool

Today is Kaylee's first day of 3 year preschool and she was SO excited to go this morning! She'll be going 4 days a week, Tues-Friday, from 9-1. She has an awesome teacher and I just know she'll have a wonderful year. I am her room mom...not sure what I'm getting into with all that, so we'll see if I'll be willing to do it again!! I am looking forward to seeing her this afternoon and hearing all about her first day!

Silly kids

Here are some pictures from a few days ago...Kaylee was being super silly hugging Andy and making him laugh, which would then make her laugh; it was very cute.

You can see Andy's tooth in the first one below, and his expression in the last photo just makes me laugh.
